Student Question: What is the setting of your book (time and place)? How would the story change if you changed the setting. Give me at least one specific example. My book takes place in the present, in southern California. The main character Drew, is a young basketball prodigy who is highly ranked by college scouts everywhere. The town he lives in is a relatively average size place but I think if he lived in a bigger city such as Los Angeles I think he would get more ahead of himself. I think this would happen because he already cares very little for education and thinks way too highly of himself but if he lived in a city like L.A. I think he would get much more attention from the news/media and much bigger crouds at his games. All of this being said, I believe this would all factor into him getting way too ahead of himself and he may not care about his game or school as much leading to failure. That's what I think would happen if the setting changed.

Student Question: Discuss a funny or ironic part of the story that was in your book. A funny part of my book was when Auggie(the main character)describes the story his mom tells about how he was born. His mom describes that when he came out, the whole room got quiet. She describes how the nurse immediately rushed Auggie out of the room. And also in all the commotion at the sight of him and all the yelling with the nurse rushing him out of the room, the doctor fainted. That is what is funny to me about my book.
Student Question: How do you compare to the main character of your book? I compare to the main character because he and I both think quickly in tough situations. He thinks like that in his world-saving moments and i think like that when i'm in tough situations in basketball. Also the main character likes doing research, and so do I in projects. That's how the main character and i compare.
Student Question: What about this book amazed, interested or stood out to you as you read? What amazed me about this book was how easily the author can flip between the different points of views of the characters. The author flips through multiple characters like Foaly, Artemis, Holly, Butler, and Opal. The author flips through these characters points of view in big situations and shows their point of view and what they think. That's what amazed me about my book this week.
